I was sitting in the world’s best Physical Therapy office last week reading a foodie magazine (did you expect any thing less?) and ran across a one page article…10 item questionnaire actually with a local chef and the questions got me to thinking that these might make for an interesting blog post from both sides of the screen. So today ya’ll are going to learn a bit more about me and I am looking to learn more about those of you who follow WikiJan. So I used some of the questions from the article and tossed in a few of my own. Our little community here cover a wide age range from those of us just starting out on our own to those of us on the other side of raising kids.

1. What food most reminds you of your childhood?
Rice
2. When you cook what is your specialty?
Very involved dishes, the more ingredients the better.
3. If you had to choose only one food to eat for a week what would it be?
Ribeyes, cold rare if you please…
4. What is your guilty food pleasure?
Hot buttered Cheerios (don’t judge me lol), the closest I can get to popcorn which I can not have any longer.
5. What is your ideal setting for a meal?
The kitchen table with lots of people to feed.
6. Are there any foods you dislike and will not eat?
Eggplant BLEACK!
7. What was the last thing you cooked?
Granola, real food..Chicken Parm
8. If you could who would you spend a year learning to cook from?
Alton Brown hands down
9. What is your MUST have cooking utensil?
My 5″ Shun knife, but coming in a very close second would be my Wilton’s silicon flat scraper-it goes from bowl to pan and back without blinking an eye. It was the best $7 I have spent.
10. Do you prefer to dine in or carry out?
Dine in 80%-20%.
11. Salty or sweet?
Salty
12. What is the perfect bagel topping?
Cream Cheese nice and thick on a toasted Onion Bagel.
13. Where would be your perfect foodie destination?
France for the classical and Germany for the rustic.
14. What is your “go to” fresh herb?
Rosemary, I keep 2 or 3 containers of it in the fridge all the time. A sprig tossed into a white wine cream sauce make an average sauce into an amazing sauce.
15. What is the one intimidating dish you want to learn to cook?
Dried cured Salami

breakfast

mexican!

my mom’s, at a favorite restaurant, potluck at my apt with a few close friends

roasted asparagus and redskin potatoes, frozen black bean burger with guacamole–random!

would have to say my mom

beyond the necessary, i just got a citrus juicer and it rules! also loving my food processor

Well Kathryn I’ll have to talk to H.N. and K.F.C. when we do pasta at their place and see if they mind you coming along for the pasta lesson. You will be surprised at just how easy it is to make. OH and fresh Dill is AMAZING!
